Book – The Human Symphony
In the beginning there was the sound, the word, the song.
THE HUMAN SYMPHONY
HEALING WITH SOUND AND VIBRATION
The Human Symphony compares the human body to an orchestra. Like an orchestra, the body has many players who must be in tune with one another. When the players are harmoniously in tune, the result is a joyous symphony. When the body’s natural rhythms are in tune and vibrating in harmony, we have good health, energy, and vitality. When our body rhythms are out of tune, our health is impaired. Each body system has its own tone, its own rhythm, its own harmony, and together they sing the human symphony.
The natural rhythms of the body can be restored with sound or vibration. The ancient origins of sound healing are outlined by Dr. Wieder and the basis of modern sound therapy is reviewed. Every thing in the universe vibrates and has its own vibrational frequency. The author describes how she explored the vibrational frequencies of first the spine, and then the entire human body. She discovered that tuning forks can restore the natural harmonic resonance of vertebrae. When treating clients she found tuning forks awkward to work with, so she came up with the idea of developing an electronic tuning fork that could provide the desired frequencies. With the help of a talented and creative electronic designer, a functional electronic tuning fork was produced and marketed.
Dr. Wieder clearly describes in detail how to use the electronic tuning fork and muscle testing in vibration therapy. Muscle testing is an important element in finding and treating dysfunctions of the body. Case histories provide examples of using the electronic turning fork for treating various ailments. The final chapter takes a look at future research in sound and vibration therapy.
The Human Symphony Book Reviews
Thought-provoking and Valuable Resource
Dr. Wieder has gifted us with an exciting and versatile new therapeutic tool, and a thought-provoking book to make it accessible. Surveying the ever-present music of the cosmos, from the far reaches of the galaxies to the infinitesimal rhythms that animate every living cell, she provides a lyrical and comprehensive foundation for the premise that sound can be used to influence and balance the human body/mind. She reviews the long and colorful history of healing traditions that utilize vibrational energy, as well as modern therapeutic disciplines that work with the symphony of frequencies that regulate the healthy functioning of living organisms.
Against this wide-ranging background, Dr. Wieder introduces her “electronic tuning fork,” an extension of her earlier work with steel tuning forks to treat dysfunctions arising from malalignments of the human vertebrae. Her new, more adaptable device produces a range of frequencies that can be applied not only to the spine, but also to other vital organs and to the subtle energy centers of the body. As with the tuning forks, Dr. Wieder uses her HARMONIC RESONATOR in conjunction with muscle testing to determine which body parts require treatment, and for how long.
To the uninitiated, it may seem far-fetched to claim that the application of tuned sounds can relieve a wide range of symptoms, both physical and mental. The brief but impressive case histories show that clients of all ages, with a variety of problems, have responded to treatment with the Harmonic Resonator. In a provocative final chapter, Dr. Wieder speculates about future applications of the device in healing and research.
The Human Symphony is a valuable resource for anyone interested in vibrational healing, and an indispensable guide for practitioners exploring the potential of the Harmonic Resonator in their own work.

Dr. Wieder's Books, Interviews and Article
Dr. Wieder has made a notable contribution to the literature concerning alternative healing arts with her book Song of the Spine. Her condensed and highly readable history of the healing applications of rhythm and tone covers a wide variety of vibrational energies. Dr. Wieder's own clinical research and therapeutic experience as a chiropractor has yielded an intriguing theory regarding the 'home' tones of the vertebrae and their significance for neurological, physiological and psychological well-being. Anyone interested in energy medicine in its many forms will find much of interest here.

The spine sings a song, but sometimes it sings out of tune. When the spine sings well, it moves effortlessly and harmoniously, with all parts of the body working as an integral unit. When the spine is out of tune, movement becomes stiff, uncomfortable, and, too often, painful. A new kind of vibrational therapy, bone toning, makes it possible to restore the natural resonant harmonics of the spine.
